Tips for the office (back)
Recycle your electronic devices
Since 2007, people can bring their computer and electronic waste to most Bureau en Gros, Best Buy, and Future Shop locations.
The lead, cadmium, beryllium, arsenic, and mercury contained in ICT (information and communication technologies) products can be very harmful to human health and the environment. Think about dropping off the following obsolete items*:
- Digital cameras
- Ink cartridges
- Cell phones
- Printers
- Portable CD and DVD players
- MP3 players
- Monitors
- Digitizers
- Desktop computers
- Laptops
- Peripherals (cables, keyboards, mouse)
- Used batteries
- Fax machines
- Telephones and answering machines
*Check which items are accepted for each retailer's program.
Other electronics recycling resources:
- Community MAR program
The Community MAR program was created in collaboration with Microsoft to increase the number of usable PCs available to nonprofit organizations, schools, and low-income families around the world by reducing the cost of software to refurbishers. The Community MAR program also benefits the environment by giving new life to a significant number of computers that would otherwise be destined for landfills.

http://www.office.xerox.com/perl-bin/product.pl?mode=recycling - Attention Montreal businesses and residents: ecocenters also accept computer equipment!
Ecocenters are sites available to all residents in the Greater Montreal area for the reuse, recovery, and recycling of waste materials. By encouraging segregation at source, ecocenters allow the reuse or recovery of recyclable materials and thus contribute to reducing the total amount of waste produced.
